Our Community Service days got off to a wonderful start on Friday, with students out in the community working with Gilda’s Club, the Louisville Free Public Library, Project Warm, Kentucky Refugee Ministries, Louisville Grows, the Kentucky Science Center, the Louisville Nature Center, the Chestnut Street YMCA, House of Ruth, Boys and Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana, New Directions Housing, Olmsted Conservancy, Americana Community Center, Dare to Care, Heuser Hearing Institute, and our Goshen Campus. Our second Community Service Day is next Friday, and the afternoon activity is our Two-Campus Field Day. I’ll send a parent email out early next week with logistical details: we’ll travel to the Goshen Campus and enjoy Field Day fun with our young Wyvern friends, followed by field hockey, volleyball, and soccer games and our Spirit Night, Senior Night, and Bonfire festivities. To kick things off, we’ve got the likes of Pajama Day, Twin Day, and more next week as we gear up for Friday!
Good luck to our Dragon Boat team as they take to the Ohio River on Saturday! We are two-time champions of the scholastic division (last year, that distinction came with a $1,000 prize!) and are looking to defend the title.
The 9th graders elected their class representatives to the School Committee (our term for a student council), joining the upperclassmen voted in last spring. Alexandra and I are excited to work this year with 12th graders Iqlas Abukar, Chris Hammond, Matthew Melendez, and Mike Snyder; 11th graders Michael Crinot, Caroline Pepa, and Alex Shelley; 10th graders Sophie Johnson, Jaida Knuckles, and Audrey McClain; and 9th graders Evie Dunn, Aidan Kash, and Ellie Westfall.
