Thoughtful Series: Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
Thoughtful Series: Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences
Join us on Tuesday, April 9 from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. on the Goshen Campus for our Thoughtful Series: Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences. New next year in Middle and High School, we will be holding not just Parent-Teacher Conferences, but Parent-Teacher-Student Conferences! This three-way model, which is followed by numerous schools nationwide, fits our Progressive philosophy perfectly. By including students in the conferences, we aim to foster a more inclusive and participatory dialogue among students, parents/guardians, and teachers, making the conferences themselves an even more productive experience. Three-way conferences facilitate open communication and collaboration between students, parents/guardians, and teachers. Through involvement in these discussions, students gain a sense of ownership of their learning journey, which encourages responsibility and accountability. This setup allows students to directly share their perspectives, goals, and concerns, thereby fostering their self-advocacy skills and increasing their engagement in the educational process. We are asking at least one parent/guardian of each current 4th - 11th grader (rising 5th - 12th graders) to attend the Parent Coffee to learn more about this, have a chance to ask questions, and know what to expect come fall. Additional Parent Coffee times include Thursday, April 11 from 8:45 - 9:45 a.m. on the Downtown Campus or Monday, April 15 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. via Google Meet. Please choose whichever option works best for you; it does not matter which division your child is in. We look forward to talking with you soon!
