The holidays are here and we have received a few requests for ideas for toys and gifts for preschoolers. We are fond of toys that are open-ended, have high play value, and can be used for more than one purpose, wherever those imaginations may go. Wooden building blocks, puzzles, balls, Magna-Tiles, play scarves, and items that can be used for pretend play (for example, a doctor’s kit) can be revisited time and time again. Books and puppets are also great gift ideas for young children. Click here to read an article on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ suggestions on selecting toys verses video games for young children. The article discusses the importance of toys and games that require children to interact with them rather than being passive participants in their play.

On Tuesday, December 11th we will host a parent Coffee + Conversation immediately following carpool. The topic of discussion for this session is social and emotional development, and supporting young children in building relationships and friendships.

Weather Alerts
With wintry weather upon us, school closings become a real possibility. Please remember, we do not follow Jefferson or Oldham County decisions. Our notification system will notify parents via phone and email – so make sure that your contact information is up to date in the Parent Portal! We also post delay and closing information on our website, social media, and notify local television stations, which will post any delays or closings both on-screen and on their websites. Be sure to listen for information about St. Francis School – Goshen Campus; the Preschool will not be announced separately.
