The High School Drama Project Presents “The Gorges Motel”

Francis Parker School of Louisville - Goshen Campus 11000 U.S. Highway 42, Goshen, KY, United States

Pack your bags for a trip to Watkins Glen, New York to the “luxurious” Gorges Motel! The St. Francis School Drama Project’s fall high school production is a two-act collection of 10-minute scenes, highlighted by Act Two’s "The Gorges Motel." Act One is an appetizer of three wonderful scenes by American playwrights David Ives and Jack Neary that includes "Sure Thing" and "Words, Words, Words" from the "It's All in the Timing collection." In Act Two, lives intersect in comic and dramatic fashion in a motel that has seen better days. Break-ups and a wedding, a rapping reverend and a drone attack, the ridiculous and the sublime all come together in one unlikely place. "The Gorges Motel" is comprised of the short plays "Missing" by James Hindman, "Kissing Cousins" by Craig Pospisil, "What Lola Saw" by Isaac Himmelman, "Reverend" and "Second Chance" by Lynne Halliday, and "Here Comes the Drone" by Arlene Hutton. Join us on Friday, December 3 and Saturday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Goshen Campus Theater! Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Cash, credit cards, and checks accepted. "The Gorges Motel" contains mature language and subject matter and is appropriate for students 8th grade and older. "The Gorges Motel," "Sure Thing," and "Words, Words, Words" are presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., New York.

Thoughtful Series: The Mask You Live In

Francis Parker School of Louisville - Goshen Campus 11000 U.S. Highway 42, Goshen, KY, United States

Please join us on Thursday, December 9 at 8:30 a.m. in the Library of the Goshen Campus for our next Thoughtful Series: a screening of "The Mask You Live In." Together we will watch and discuss the documentary "The Mask You Live In (TMYLI)." TMYLI examines the lives of boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while navigating the narrow definition of masculinity that is seen in media and our culture. After watching the film, we will explore how we can all work together to raise a healthier generation of those who identify as male. While the material is most pertinent to middle and high school students, everyone is welcome to attend. If you are unable to join us but would like to watch the film and discuss it with your child, you can find the documentary here. Questions? Please reach out to Julie Marks (JMarks@StFrancisSchool.org) or Zak Cohen (ZCohen@StFrancisSchool.org) on the Goshen Campus or TuNice Cole (TCole@StFrancisSchool.org) or Suzanne Gorman (SGorman@StFrancisSchool.org) on the Downtown Campus.

The High School Drama Project Presents “The Curious Savage”

Francis Parker School of Louisville - Goshen Campus 11000 U.S. Highway 42, Goshen, KY, United States

Join us for the High School Drama Project’s spring production of The Curious Savage! Directed by Drama Project Director Reed Gabhart, The Curious Savage is the story of elderly widow Mrs. Savage, whose husband has left her $10 million dollars. When she intends to give the entire fortune away to people who wish to pursue their “foolish dreams,” her stepchildren strongly object. To prevent her from doing away with their family’s wealth and ruining their legacy, her stepchildren have her committed to a sanatorium called The Cloisters, and it is among the gentle residents there that she finds her true family. The Curious Savage is a warm comedy that compares the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the greed and hostility of so-called “normal people.” Save the dates! Performances are Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Goshen Campus Theater! Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Cash, credit cards, and checks accepted. The Curious Savage is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection (www.dramatists.com).
